Attempting a coup = not the good guy

It's framing. For the next coup. Because there will be a next one. The Nazis didn't win their first coup either.

Hitler was only sentenced to 5 years in prison despite being convicted of treason. He lived in comfort and wrote his famous book there.

The 60-day, nine-month, and time-served sentences make a mockery of justice and a tragedy of history. 20 years is about right if not a bit lenient for plotting what would have gotten someone hanged, drawn, and quartered at the time of our country's founding.

Just to add on to that. He served 9 months and was released on good behaviour. A reminder he spent those 9 months writing a manifesto that promoted genocide. I hope we can learn from history.

If they think attempting a coup is being the good guy, I actually hope they become "bad guys".

It depends tho. Overthrowing an authoritarian is usually considered a good thing. But mostly, it only depends on the success of the coup. Successful coup = we were heroes. Unsuccessful coup = they were traitors.

Unless it succeeds. Most Mericans today think the revolutionaries are heros cuz freedom, but at the time there were plenty of people who were against splitting from England. Now this is more like being a Confederate sympathiser, and that tracks perfectly.
