Same thing here in Canada (although doctors are pretty well paid here). In Ontario the government actually capped pay raises for public health workers (and other public sector workers) at 1% during the pandemic, when our jobs were getting harder and busier, and inflation started going through the roof. We're easily a decade behind where we should be if not more. And in our case, it's not even legal to strike.

Just some corrections here, Bill 124 (the 1% cap on wage increases) was thrown out because it was deemed unconstitutional and strikes are not illegal, Doug Ford tried to make them illegal, but quickly backed down when he faced a general strike. However his actions have definitely put union bargaining behind and they have a lot of catching up to do.

Doug Ford's game plan is and has always been the privatization of medical services in Ontario. At this point I'm certain he's purposely trying to make our health care fail so he can push through privatization.
