Your employer wants you to be in a mindset of scarcity and fear.

That way, he can have leverage over you and easily control you.

You should never allow it.

If you're being intimidated for termination, look for another job and make it easier for him to fire you.

Show him that have options and don't care.

I switched from Windows to Linux full time around Feb 2024.

I think Linux is ready for desktop use.

Technically, not all corporations are evil.

For example, I'm a solo-entrepreneur and I own my own company/corporation and I'm the only one in it. I don't think I'm evil. (For now??)

But I get what you mean. I'm assuming evil comes with size, power and influence

I bought some textbooks for university.

Ended up not using most of them.

Most computers science students are used to computers, internet and StackOverflow.

Not paper.
