I work in automotive as an engineer and that would be a red flag in our industry too. Our safety standards are only a fraction as strict as aerospace for obvious reasons (we’re not shooting cars through the atmosphere at the speed of sound!), but we’d never get away with this with the amount of audits and accountability that we’re held to. This whole saga is absolutely insane.

This investigation should be over quickly. Whereas at the beginning of Covid, it was cheaper to shop at Kroger than the local grocery co-op and the fresh thyme, both are now cheaper than Kroger by ~$50/week for a family of 3. The same carton of eggs at fresh thyme is half the price of Kroger. Make it make sense!!!

Rookie lefty 1B who can mash acquired from an NL West team right before the start of the season? Michael “Anthony Rizzo” Busch is his name!

I recognized it instantly also! I’ve never seen a fuck up that bad before, but I’ve seen plenty of trucks have to make a 3-point turn after getting stuck under that bridge.

The one that I saw was early on, after Hamas attacked, the news reported the number of deaths from “the Hamas invasion”. After that, when Israel retaliated and started killing Palestinians, the news was reporting “the total number killed since the beginning of the Hamas invasion”. They lumped all of the deaths from both sides together and framed it as if they were all attributed to Hamas, even though Israel had killed several times as many people by that point.

They also have a few billboards on Interstate 69 in Indiana, in what can absolutely not be a coincidence!

I mean, it’s probably a little bit of both. It’s not like people will just stop buying gas in the near and medium-term, and once they got the goodwill and looked at their bottom line they realized that they could just keep the goodwill AND the money. Classic mega corporation move

Agreed, I feel like they probably abandoned the plan because they realized $100M wasn’t enough…

Can’t wait to see how much I’ve been paying for the “CEO Yacht Maintenance Fee” each month!

Unemployment only includes people considered “in the labor force”. To be considered “in” the labor force, you have to be employed, employed within the last 2 months, or currently looking for jobs (something like that, it’s been a few years). Labor force participation is currently around 62.5%, so that means about 38.5% plus the 3% unemployment of 62.5% would give us the real rate. Of course, people “not participating” also includes retired people and students without jobs, so there’s that as well.

Historically, the labor force participation is around 62.8%, so tl;dr people are working just fine.
