The genocide is literally being streamed live, and people in the west continue to look the other way while western regimes keep fuelling it.

...is Nitter an actual news source?

[-] emils@lemmy.ml 16 points 11 months ago

Nitter is an alternative frontend for twitter/X.

[-] otp@sh.itjust.works 12 points 11 months ago

Does Twitter count as a legitimate news source? Lol

[-] yogthos@lemmy.ml 8 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

By legitimate you mean state approved propaganda source lol.

edit: it's pretty funny how libs love to talk about how freedom of press is a big differentiating factor in the west compare to say China where media is more actively state controlled. However, these same people will dismiss any source that falls out of state approved mainstream. When alternative media exists, but it's dismissed, then the end result is no different from having explicit state censorship. The only difference is that people do the work of the censors themselves.

about as creative a comback as I'd expect from a squirrel on meth

the meth smoking squirrel proves that the height of its intellectual ability consists of aping insults, but lacking the ability to use them in their appropriate context 😂

[-] Mongostein@lemmy.ca 2 points 10 months ago

I thought it was a clever way to get you to call yourself a meth smoking squirrel, but I guess you missed it.

[-] yogthos@lemmy.ml 3 points 10 months ago

Sure would've been if you manged to use in a way that made sense, but you being you...

[-] Mongostein@lemmy.ca 2 points 10 months ago

Seethe and cope, little buddy

[-] yogthos@lemmy.ml 3 points 10 months ago

What about my little meth huffing squirrel friend?

[-] badelf@lemmy.ml 7 points 10 months ago

I have noticed that this account often posts inflammatory articles that lack credible supporting evidence. I think I'll add it to my hexbear filter.

I’m just seeing one image of some random soldier holding a necklace. Am I not seeing something?

I mean, fuck that dude, but name a military who hasn’t sacked a town.

[-] yogthos@lemmy.ml 15 points 11 months ago

What the fuck is wrong with you?

[-] tsonfeir@lemm.ee 10 points 11 months ago

I’m saying fuck the guy, if that text is the truth. But I’m just seeing one dude in the video holding a single piece of jewelry. Passing it around, and only the cameraman seems to be really into it.

Besides, this is basically a twitter video. And, I don’t trust anything I see on Twitter.

Be careful who you scream at, because I’m definitely not a fan of warfare.

[-] yogthos@lemmy.ml 14 points 11 months ago

We're talking about an army that's actively committing a genocide right now.

[-] tsonfeir@lemm.ee 5 points 11 months ago

I’d argue that’s almost every army. War is wrong. Every army kills. Every army sacks. Pieces of shit for sure

[-] yogthos@lemmy.ml 7 points 10 months ago

I'd argue that's a false equivalence that downplays the scale of atrocities Israel is committing. For context, Israel killed more civilians in a month in Gaza than Russian army killed in Ukraine in over a year of fighting.

[-] yogthos@lemmy.ml 5 points 10 months ago

Nobody said it was a competition. Nice going there missing the point entirely though.

[-] tsonfeir@lemm.ee 1 points 10 months ago

Sorry, are you talking to yourself?

[-] yogthos@lemmy.ml 5 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

I'm missing the point of my own comment, is that what you came up with there? 😂

You're about as coherent as a Markov chain. Bye.

[-] tsonfeir@lemm.ee 2 points 10 months ago

While Markov chains involve probabilistic transitions and may seem random at a glance, they do follow specific rules and probabilities. They're not inherently incoherent or illogical; they just operate under a different kind of logic that's based on probability rather than deterministic cause and effect.

Comparing human communication to a mathematical model like a Markov chain is a bit of a stretch. Human speech, even when it seems disorganized, usually has more context and underlying intent than the transitions in a Markov chain.

Bye

[-] yogthos@lemmy.ml 3 points 10 months ago

I'll upgrade that sentence to chatGPT level sophistry

[-] tsonfeir@lemm.ee 2 points 10 months ago

It still beat you. Byyyeeeeee

[-] yogthos@lemmy.ml 3 points 10 months ago

As long as you feel good about yourself that's all that matters little buddy.

[-] lurch@sh.itjust.works 12 points 11 months ago

Doesn't make it okay tho. The goal is 0 military who sacked a town.

[-] tsonfeir@lemm.ee 4 points 11 months ago

Well, whose goal? Mine? Yes. Yours? Yes. Everyone in every government using people as pawns in their sick little feud? No.

[-] SkepticalButOpenMinded@lemmy.ca 7 points 10 months ago

Agree on being skeptical, not because it’s not plausible, but because we should be skeptical of the firehouse of misinformation going on right now. There’s no journalistic source attached to this, as far as I can see.

But strong disagree on the whataboutism of “name a military that hasn’t done x”, as a way to justify horrible behavior. That’s just depraved.

[-] tsonfeir@lemm.ee 1 points 10 months ago

Saying I’m justifying something is putting your words in my mouth. Don’t gaslight, it’s beneath you.

[-] SkepticalButOpenMinded@lemmy.ca 4 points 10 months ago

Speaking of gaslighting! “Who hasn’t done x” is a construction whose only purpose is to minimize how horrible x is.

[-] tsonfeir@lemm.ee 1 points 10 months ago

Nope. I’m saying they’re all trash. Equally. It’s very horrible, not to be minimized. But on that same note: I’m not as shocked as OP wants me to be. Are you?

[-] SkepticalButOpenMinded@lemmy.ca 5 points 10 months ago

To say “they’re all trash” is to minimize the horrible behavior as commonplace, and the party committing it as not especially worthy of scorn. For example: “Germany shouldn’t have committed genocide, but what country hasn’t committed genocide?” This is a statement that minimizes the seriousness of genocide. It is a shitty thing to say.

[-] tsonfeir@lemm.ee 1 points 10 months ago

It’s a shitty way to misinterpret my comment. Maybe next time ask more before making a judgement call. Adios. 🚫

[-] bartolomeo@suppo.fi 2 points 10 months ago

It's ok to be wrong, we all are sometimes. Just keep an open mind and stay positive, no worries mate.

[-] tsonfeir@lemm.ee 1 points 10 months ago

Wrong about what
