I am really surprised how much press this game is creating. It’s a release from a smallish studio that afaik so far only produced point and click adventures. Why is everybody interested in this game? It might be bad and overpriced, but aren’t there a lot of expensive and terrible games released that nobody talks about?
It's a licensed IP game, and recently those have gotten a reputation of being decent hits.
On top of that, this generated a lot of hype on Reddit when it first came out. A lot of people were excited to see how the game could possibly pull it off.
Spoiler: it couldn't.
This has to be the most depressing release I've seen in a long time. A game that no one asked for, received minimal support from the studio, released early and monetized to hell.
I looked at the the developers history, and they have a lot of prior success. But it’s all small time indie type games. I think this is just a case of taking on a project which was too large for them to handle.
Yeah to me it seems to be a case where they definitely overestimated their ability.
I’ve heard so many negative things that I’ve completely avoided it. It’s unfortunate, because I really wanted a good LOTR experience.
