They only whisper to each other. You have no idea what they're talking about.
You become increasingly paranoid at the barely audible whispers and giggles. Nobody else notices and they believe you've gone stark raving mad.

But they only do it your ear and always right before you fall asleep.

Treat them right and they will.
Granted. But you only hear them clearly as they crawl out of your mouth and nose.
