I don't understand the appeal of VIP. I've watched 2-3 of them all the way through, and tried watching 2-3x as many episodes, but the show just isn't good IMO.

I like Vic, but let some of the better shows have more air time. Gimmie more gastronauts or play it by ear, but this show is cheap and easy, so this is what we get...

I like VIP. Although I will admit it probably has the highest variance in quality from episode to episode. It's really guest dependant.

Gastronauts has done a casting call for season 2 already, and I think the loss of PIBE had less to do with other shows taking its spot, and is more just on its own merits. It either wasn't successful enough on Dropout (where so much of the marketing is things like insta/yt shorts/etc.), or Zach and Jess are prioritizing other things, or some combination of both. I don't think anyone official has really said. (I'm not even sure we officially know there won't eventually be a season 3.)

I definitely miss PIBE personally. I thought season 1 was pretty decent even though it got pretty badly panned in general, and season 2 was incredible. For what it's worth Zach and Jess did a 300 episode podcast called "Off Book" which is similar vibes.

Yeah, I figured PIBE had some BTS stuff keeping it away and that gastronauts would get S2, I'm just annoyed by how much VIP gets churned out. But it's a cheap and simple show to make (in comparison to GC or MSN, or even D20) so I get it.

That's for the podcast rec, I'm definitely gonna check that out!
