You're not wrong, it's the price we pay for federation.
Maybe we should push for a 'merged communities' function, where similar federated communities can join so you get one feed that contains all the posts.

I think part of the problem, at least as far as memes are concerned, there's a few groups at critical mass and then there's some smaller ones with higher quality content that don't get the recognition.
I keep coming back to this, Subscribed is your only feed, you have to cultivate it into a palace!
It's not "kind of like". It "is".
