Edit: I evidentially had a colossal brain fart reading this article. This is what I get for trying to absorb media before my morning coffee. Original comments stands as a testament to how instant emotional responses are never the way:

I dare say they're not campaigning that hard if they're just giving in to the racists.

If you care strongly enough, you should always be willing to put your body in the way. Stand for what is right, even if you stand alone.

Did you read the article? To hold an event, you need a place for the event to take place in. The venues were the ones who cancelled, not the campaigner.

The funny part is I did. This was one of the first things I read this morning after a late night last night and my mind got fixated on the idea that they had cancelled it and not the venue.

My brain should have clicked on earlier as I was reading about the other cancellations mentioned in the article and didn't put two and two together.

My comment was an emotionally driven response without much thought and it's actually pretty fucking embarrassing.

Thank you for giving me the kick up the arse to read it again after my morning coffee 😂 I usually take more time to sit and absorb things I read before putting my thoughts into words - this one slipped through the cracks it seems.

I won't delete the comment, as I much prefer when people's stupidity is laid out for everyone to see, even if it is my own.

General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

!ukpolitics@lemm.ee appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(
