I believe Ryzen 7000 boards are already available for preorder in the 13 inch. Preorders are supposed to ship starting late 2023, so you should be all good by next year.

If I have time to have them play the whole game (or at least the main story) I would probably have them play Red Dead Redemption 2. It's a beautiful game with great mechanics, but most importantly I think it may be the most well told story in a video game ever.

The platform matters less to me in this case, but probably a really good PC so I can crank the textures and get some ray tracing going.
