For anyone genuinely wondering, this is a preauricular pit -- a birth defect that could rarely signal other, bigger issues but which is usually harmless by itself. It's just a random opening, it doesn't even connect to anything.

Mine has a pus-like substance that builds up inside. It smells terrible.

[-] EatBeans@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago

I had that too, occasionally it would get infected and swell the entire side of my face it was on. My American insurance (Kaiser Permanente) covered surgery for removing the pit. Highly recommend looking into getting it removed, although I do miss the satisfaction of squeezing it out.

For years I wondered why when I scratched my left ear, it would feel kinda wet and then I'd get like lump in my throat, and then my finger would smell terrible. But on my right side this never happened.

After I got married my wife asked to pop the pimple on my ear. I didn't know what she meant, but I let her. Anyway a quarter century of this horrible white pus oozed out, and then we looked into what on earth just happened.

I have a cyst on the centre of the back of my neck that does this. But squeezing it doesn't permanently solve anything.

Think of it this way - it's a little defect in the skin. Instead of your skin shedding and falling off/washing off your body, you have a little pocket that keeps collecting those skin cells (cells are shedding inside the pocket.) That's why it smells gross and comes back even after you squeeze it. To get rid of it permanently, it would need to be surgically removed. Totally Dr Pimple Popper territory.

You can kinda pop them like they're pimples and the waxy/runny stuff that comes out of there smells like death.

[-] QwertySpace@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

That's probably sweat and dead skin cells

[-] DudePluto@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Wait I have one and I'm 27 now, should I be worried?

I have never seen anyone with this in my life; I am convinced you are all trolling

[-] Rhabuko@feddit.de 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I have those. If I squish my ear, it leaks sometimes fluid 🙃

[-] hungryphrog 5 points 1 year ago

Sounds very, very fun.

[-] Piers@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

You have. Normally they are much smaller to the point where they can be nearly invisible.

[-] OptimalAutomation@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago

It’s the factory reset button

[-] hungryphrog 4 points 1 year ago

Does pressing it turn me to a baby or will I remain the same age but just get memory loss?

[-] MyFairJulia@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

You are both wrong. You can put a wire into that hole and a hole in the earlobe and then plug in a USB stick or a phone with an RCM payload to load hekate and finally boot into Atmosphère.

It's much safer than drilling through the nose into the brain at just the right place to perform the Kamikaze hack.

[-] muertinez@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago

holy shit didn’t know this was a thing. my gf has this spot

[-] EatBeans@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Try squeezing it and seeing what comes out!

[-] muertinez@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

first of all…thats not my fetish ;)

also its deceiving. seems like it would be a hole but it’s more like a beauty mark in that it’s an illusion. just never seen anyone else with it til now.
