I’ve just made an account here to lighten the load on lemmy.world/support my home instance. My email verification came through straight away (unlike when I previously tried to sign up a few weeks back) and I was able to join local communities without problem. But when I try and join communities on other instances I just get “subscription pending”. These are really large communities which people from here must have joined so I’m a bit confused. Is this a feddit issue or an issue with the host instances? Thanks!

Because you're a hipster. You're just too new for those comms.

Seriously? How long until I’m no longer a noob? I’ve got a couple of accounts on different instances and this is the first time I’ve seen it.

Are you seeing posts from those communities since you subscribed? If so, it's working.

I recently left/rejoined several communities due to something like this. I think it's just a display bug, but I can't confirm now, due to the above.

Yes I am, thank you! Weirdly, when I subscribe to communities via the Memmy app I don’t have any issue. It only happens when I’m joining communities on feddit.uk in my safari browser 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yeah, I get this quite a bit through the web interface. It makes no functional difference and I largely just ignore it now.

Nah not really. It's just a bug in Lemmy - even though it looks like you're not subscribed you really are.

Sometimes clicking on it and rejoining clears the pending.

It seems to be a visual bug only. You should still see content as if you're subscribed.

You're subscribed. You'll see posts. Its fine. Its just a bug in the display
