What's everyone on /m/gaming playing lately?

I'm still making my way through the Diablo IV campaign, really enjoying that but looking forward to blasting and figuring out if I enjoy the endgame more than anything at this point. I'm a binge Path of Exile player but the past few leagues haven't really done it for me. It's been nice to play an ARPG again and I'm enjoying D4's slower pace. Zoom zoom is great in POE, but it's nice to get back to basics a little bit.

Went with Whirlwind Barbarian. Know it's meta, but Cyclone Slayer is my favorite POE build so I'm just trying to enjoy my time as the overpowered class rather than fighting it haha.

Played through the Lies of P demo as well and thought it was mostly great. Not the greatest example of gameplay for the genre IMO, but the production values and the vibe were stellar.

How about you guys?

I'm at the post-endgame of Monster Hunter Rise. Got my final gear, I'm just basically making the rank and research level numbers go up at this point. Still having fun, though.

I also play a lot of Battlefield 2042, but I'm not particularly good at it.

Lately Ive been playing a combination of Diablo 2:Resurrected and Diablo 3. I got D3 for the first time when I bought D2 a few months back so Ive been trying it out lately and Ive been pleasantly surprised. It has a lot of issues sure but it is great for a casual ARPG grind when I dont feel like playing anything else. Have been playing as Witch Doctor and trying to push the greatest rift level I can before returning to D2. That being said, I have no desire to play Diablo 4 with all its MMO-lite features and poor build diversity and itemization

Since the beta release on the 1st, I’ve been playing the Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader beta. But not finding as much time as I want, I only have 30h so far. I played the Alpha when it was released, but stopped after one playthrough. Haven’t had ship combat yet (just arrived in footfall), but everything improved over the alpha, and even the alpha was probably better than Pathfinder: Kingmaker or Wrath of the RIghteous right on release ;)

For those who don’t know, it’s a turnbased Warhammer 40k CRPG by the same company who did the 2 Pathfinder Games, Owlcat Games.

Mostly Tears of the Kingdom. Other than my typical multiplayer games I've been sinking my time mostly into Zelda.

Have just grabbed Kingdom Come Deliverance in sale, having fun being a weak little shit and throwing poo at things.

Learning curve is brutal though.

Been playing Factorio to death, but strongly considering trying out the System Shock remake of late.

I'm giving Far Cry 6. I was a big fan of 3, 4 and 5 but I waited on 6 due to some mixed reviews. I'm not sure about the feel of it so far with the addition of some rpg elements. The deck has really helped me find time for gaming again.

TOTK - long time since a game has kept me coming back.

GRID (2008) on my PC - it's still hands-down my favorite racing game of all time. Had it originally on the 360, bought it a few years later on Steam. Best arcade-racing physics ever made. Codemaster's masterpiece.

I've been playing Tears of the Kingdom a little here and there - I've been slow to get into it, but I'm starting to get hooked.

Also I recently got a Retroid Flip and have been using that to play the translated Front Mission 5 for the PS2 (started the game years and years ago but never got too far - I've always loved the Front Mission games so am excited to get into this one!).

Oh and a group I game with is starting in on Path of Exile, so will probably be giving that a try soon.

Doing TOTK main quests and apparently the game is much longer than I expected... I am about 60 hr in and I feel I have make it at most 50%, maybe way less.

Also playing some HOI4 when I got too much time.

Just playing a shitload of Diablo IV, happy times.

Forcing myself to play through Redfall to see how bad it is in some kind of masochistic gaming session.

Also Warhammer Boltgun to offset the crappines of RF

I've basically played Street Fighter 6 and only Street Fighter 6 since it came out. World Tour is full of good ideas but needs iteration to really be considered good, but the core systems are amazing, and the online has been generally reliable. It's so nice to have a game with good netcode, good matchmaking, a good ranked system, a good training mode, replay search, and all sorts of other features you'd expect or want. I'm at high Gold ranks right now, and by the time I made it to this same point in SFV, that game felt like homework, but this one just feels fun.

Company of Heroes, it's a real time strategy video game series based around WW2, the Campaigns are great and I've absolutely loved it. It's a great RTS Classic I highly recommend it, it's even on Mobile

I’ve been playing a lot of Marvel Snap lately, they just added a Conquest Mode which effectively lets you test new decks (plus earning other prizes but waves hand) I’ve been having a lot of fun with my High Evo Toxic deck and also just made a High Evo Hulk deck.

I’m finishing up Shining Pearl, I basically put my game on hold right before the E4 so I could run around in the Underground for the blasted Spiritomb quest. I ended up getting burnt out and taking a hiatus so I think I’m just going to do the E4 and get Spiritomb later.

I also think I’m gonna pick up TOTK, I watched my partner play through it and I have a mighty need to make monster-killing Rube Goldberg contraptions.

Hunt Showdown. Diablo 4. Battlebit!!

It’s. Great time for me!!

Finished Elden Ring today after bouncing off pretty hard upon initial release. Enjoyed it overall, but its specific type of open-world content delivery is just not my cup of tea, I think. Also, felt that it dragged in the last third.

[-] miraclechalk@kbin.social 0 points 2 years ago

I’m addicted to Path of Exile. Doesn’t matter the league, I’m in. So much content to choose from.

[-] Narrrz@kbin.social 1 points 2 years ago

@miraclechalk

I've played in various leagues throughout the years, but honestly i find the sheer quantity of content has reached the point of being a drawback. There are so many different mechanics out there now that it's hard to keep track of it all, and remember what ties in to what, what's actually useful, etc.

The incredibly limited inventory space really doesn't help this either, since even with specialized stash tabs - how many different kinds do you need now? You'll often lose 1-2 columns of your inventory to the shards, or cards, or whatever else just between stash visits.

It's a shame, because i really love the gem/socket skill interaction & leveling systems, and the skill atlas is like pure dopamine. Although now with the second, maps skill atlas, even that has become a bit excessive.

I get that the game is aimed at a more Hardcore audience than me, but still, it's a shame.
