That “ Microsoft CEO Satya Narayana Nadella Has a Very Dark Past as a Refund Scammer”.

One of the upsides of Lemmy’s smaller size is there is, relatively speaking, a good selection of quality conversation. On the other the hand the garbage really sticks out, particularly if you’re someone who sorts by NEW.

New is fine, so long as you're using a curated list of decent communities. If you're on All, I guess I hope you like furry porn.

It's not super surprising or anything, the decentralized model welcoming all users is unavoidable, that was a core design goal. If people don't want to see certain content, they are free to block or defederate or even move Instances if necessary. So, it's natural that people that take a lot of flak elsewhere might seek refuge here. Refuge is kinda our thing, in a way, from algorithms and corporations especially.

This made me lol. No hate on the furry's, but god damn I've never seen a community produce so much porn.

Blocked the entire yiffit instance, instantly made all usable again bc Jesus tapdancing Christ was there a lot of furry porn.

I'm literally on an instance for furry porn and the amount of furry porn I've seen on All has been zero.

Yeah I hadn't checked it in awhile, I'm not seeing any either though. I used to use it more regularly before I was subbed to a ton of subs, and I'd see a good bit.

If I think it's true, why would I then say it's probably not true?

I will say that, not long ago, AskLemmy had a lot of people who came from a Marxist school of thought. Which is fine, but they then would say things like North Korea is a utopia and the USSR wasn't nationalistic (even on the world stage we see that's not exactly the case).

It's on the information superhighway. It must be true.

Trust but verify.

Now, about those UFOs in your driveway ..
