Ok so it's not the most dramatic transformation, but I'd already committed to the post title by the time I realised. It still counts!

This is a cropped version of the "Boatneck Top w/ Kimono Drop Sleeve" pattern by Kristen Stein. The pattern is supposed to be a long tunic style top, which I have also made before (and since lost, oops), but since it's built up out of repeating motifs that are joined as you go I figured it should be possible to just leave the bottom ones off and make something more cropped.

Took it on holiday in August as part of my me-made "cruise witch" wardrobe, so here's a bonus pic of me doing "influencer pose" 🤦‍♀️

This is goals! I'm just about to start on my first bag, and if it goes well I'm planning my first cardigan. Blocking is something that I'm anxious about, and have never really done before unless you count washing a blanket and hanging it up.

Did you steam block this? What's your process?

I would love to have a me-witch-wardrobe one day.

Honestly I wouldn't worry about blocking, if in doubt you can always block things quite lightly and then do it again if it wasn't enough!

I picked up a pack of kids foam play mats years ago, and use those as my unofficial blocking mats. Most things I wet block, but this one is acrylic so I did steam block it.

Pinned everything out onto my mats, held the iron about an inch away and just mashed the steam button! Not very scientific lol. Only thing to be careful of with acrylics is you can "kill" it if you get the iron too close, which is when it basically melts and loses all structure. Can be a cool effect for some projects!

Good luck with your bag and cardigan! Love to see people diving into bigger projects, they're really not as complicated as they seem!
