Does anyone have any recommendations for 2 player games that aren't that competitive? I like to play games with my girlfriend but don't want anything that is going build animosity between us.

@TimoculousPrime I hear good things about Fox and the Forest Duet. It's a trick taking game, and, while the original is competitive, the Duet version is cooperative.

Another one I've played is Time Stories. The original gives you a scenario and a timer in which to solve the mystery, so don't expect to win the first time you play. The newer Revolution series for Time Stories does away with the timer, in lieu of a points system. So, you're always going to solve it, but you're graded on how efficiently you did it.

There are also larger co-op games my SO and I have played a bunch, like Spirit Island and, most recently, ISS Vanguard and Monster Hunter World.

@Bartlebad I will try out fox and the forest duet. My girlfriend does really love foxes! Thanks

@TimoculousPrime Oh, if she's a fan of foxes, there's a game that should be out later this year by Pandasaurus called The Fox Experiment. It's designed by Elizabeth Hargrave, the same designer as Wingspan.

@TimoculousPrime
Lots of great co-op games, like Spirit Island or Arkham Horror: The Card Game. If you want something chill but not co-op, Patchwork is a game about building a quilt and it's quite pleasant.

@Sweetshadow cool, we have played both spirit island and Arkham horror card game they ended up a bit too complicated for us but I will look into patchwork.

@Tyson712 is set up and put away for jaws of the lion easy? The set up and put away time for original Gloomhaven is what killed it for us.

@TimoculousPrime Way easier, yes. There's no board tiles so that's half the battle right there ๐Ÿ˜†
It still takes a little time to grab the enemies and cards but not nearly as bad. Jotl is also a lot easier if you found gloomhaven hard to wrap your head around

@TimoculousPrime Pandemic can be played with two people!

@lark Difficulty isn't that big of a deal but it being too complex might be an issue.

@TimoculousPrime I actually think it can be a bit easier with two people, especially if you each pick two roles to play. I always try to have a medic.

@Rainbright that is a good idea. How is the legacy version of pandemic with 2 players?

@TimoculousPrime I've never played Legacy with two people. They farthest I got was a four person game of Legacy for about 2 sessions and then the other couple moved half a country away. :(
