A lot of effort has gone into improving the performance and speed of all aspects of Inkscape.

Oh yeah! That’s what I want to see.

This involved the refactoring of inefficient code, rewriting how Inkscape works with patterns, moving bitmap tracing into a separate thread and so much more.

Canvas rendering is now both multithreaded, and done outside of Inkscape's main process thread.

If your computer's processor has more than one core (which it most likely does), this can result in a 2–4× speedup while zooming / panning / transforming objects.

I use Inkscape on MacOS and Windows for SVG art for laser engraving and embroidery.

It's so great that FOSS like it exists.

Forma anyone looking forma an Illustrator alternative, this is it.

I've used Illustrator for more than 20 years, when I switched to Linux this year, I jumped on Inkscape and I was blown away by their intuitive UIX/UI.

But be warned, you HAVE to use the beta version. The stable version is so old, and lacks so many features, that it makes work so much harder.
