Idea suggestion (lemmy.world)

We should have a ads opt in check box in account settings so for those who have account but still want to support perchance i would be happy to opt in on ads if it helps in a small way

The best way to help pay for the AI plugins is actually to start playing around and building cool/fun things with them. And of course sharing those things with fandoms/communities/etc. that would likely find them useful.

Some people create an account just to not see ads, which is fine, but it does add a little burden. Luckily there are a bunch of perchance builders who are creating cool stuff using the AI plugins and sharing that stuff with the 'outside' world -- they are the ones that make the AI plugin 'economics' work. Without them, all the people who using the GPU resources would be (mostly logged-in) Perchance users, and so there'd be no ad views to fund the AI plugins.

But don't stress if you aren't a builder (yet!). Ads don't fully cover the cost of AI plugins still, but it's manageable because I have personal income to help pay, and GPU cloud prices will eventually come down (in terms of perf/$), so at this point I'm not concerned at all about financial sustainability of the AI plugins.

I also don't regret making my Random Mixed-up Flag Image Generator as well as the Counter Lab, which is pretty much some of the only generators with AI plugins that I've ever made.

(Not to mention The Super Long Name and Chat in the Smartwatch also have a text-to-image-plugin built into it!)

Looks like your random-mixup-flag-image gen is getting quite a few views! People are trying to type flag combinations into the comments box - I think they're landing there from a google search, thinking that they can type their own flag combinations but they don't realise that it's actually a comments box.

It'd be cool if you replaced the two names at the top with two <input>s and then add a "randomize" button next to those two inputs. So you can type your own countries into the box, or you can click the randomize button to generate two random country names.

Then the button at the bottom is what triggers the image generation - kinda like this: https://user-uploads.perchance.org/file/413361fb65b9123ed557a62c62cc4dc3.webp (excuse my bad photopea skills)

(Edit: Oh, I see from the message on that page that you're actually planning to update it soon! I'm guessing you noticed those comments too and already intended to do something roughly like I mentioned above)

Yeah, same reason with my random flag generator, which is why I opted in to optimize those generators for discoverability (and probably will surpass the views of my name generator sooner 😆). Also, there's probably not many flag generators out there (only some national flag generators, not a completely abstract one) at that time, so I decided to make one.

It’d be cool if you replaced the two names at the top with two <input>s and then add a “randomize” button next to those two inputs.

That sounds a great update! I'm not sure how that'd be implemented yet, but surely this will come out as an option in the generator, users could choose whether to select their own countries to combine from or let the generator randomize it automatically (default behavior), maybe through a button that would be placed around here:

and probably will surpass the views of my name generator sooner

And yes, by what I mean, it WILL 🔥🔥
