MODERATORS
Not even just fees, they want Meta/Google and the news sites to come to a payment agreement after the fact with the government as the arbitrator. Only an idiot would make that deal, especially since it woild open the floodgates for every country on Earth to demand the same.
This floodgate was opened by Australia, Canada is just early in succession but the same strategy is already on every powerful government's radar since 2021.
