I'm happy that boost for Reddit is still working, but I know that once boost for lemmy is released I'll never look back at reddit. Fuck u/spez for how he treated his users
I’ve been using wefwef too (and I’m also an Apollo refugee). Liking it so far, even if I am very confused about how a lot of this works. I hope the Lemmy community continues to grow!
Honestly, my excitement for this Fediverse movement completely overshadows everything else, I can tell that once everything gets going proper it’s gonna be really cool. So, yeah I’m not gonna miss Reddit at all.
I've mostly lurked so far, but I was compelled to create an account after seeing how much responses on assorted lemmy communities remind me of the old phpbb days. Significantly more cordial and well thought out than the average reddit/twitter/what have ye replies. I'm pretty optimistic about the fediverse now that I've experienced it despite initially not thinking much of it; it seems to combine the best elements of web 1.0 and 2.0.
Enjoy the fediverse !
Checking in at 2 weeks without Reddit, and I'm so happy that this forcing function got me to discover Lemmy and the fediverse. I enjoy it so much more, I'm browsing multiple instances and it feels like the days I discovered Reddit.
As for apps, just FYI Lemmy and KBin are progressive web apps so you can click "add to home screen" and get an app for free, I've been using it that way exclusively so far and it works well enough for me.
I’ve been here for 7 days now. I’m not new to the fediverse but am new to Lemmy. So far I’m loving it, it’s great to finally see a viable Reddit alternative gain some traction.
Mastodon is also seeing another big surge of new accounts. Kinda feels like a (social media) revolution is afoot.
Please remember to be kind to your server admins also, they’ve a lot to cope with amidst all this excitement! Oh and donate if you can to help with growing running costs.
I uninstalled sync when Reddit committed suicide. Using connect now and it's pretty good. Slowly building things back up and communities are coming to life. I don't think Reddit will ever recover.
Not bad, feels a little bit like going on a reddit detox, the slower speed of the different communities is kind of nice.
Wefwef feels fantastic. As a RIF user I see why the Apollo folk loved the user experience - glad it continues on in a way!
It's funny all the people posting about a shared withdrawal. Reddit was a habit. I feel it. But, I'm here to fill the void with a healthier substitute. Cheers everyone, we're going to make this awesome!
Wefwef is pretty nice so far and haven’t been on Reddit since Apollo stopped working
Lookin forward to seein wefwef grow
I think I need to redirect reddit.com in my DNS to lemmy.world, because my muscle memory always brings me back to reddit
I've only tried one Lemmy app so far, Jerboa. It's fine...
I'm still struggling with the muscle memory of opening baconreader pretty much all the time. I spent some time on Reddit too, on my PC, and it's kinda bland.... Since everyone seems to be here. But this place is still ramping up, so I'm interested to see what happens in the coming weeks.
A bit nerve racking the first days trying out the first post in Lemmy and missing a good app for mobile (being used to Apollo set the bar quite high) and then I discovered wefwef.app and now I feel like home again (don’t be afraid of the fact that it’s a web app, it’s really well done and fast and smooth, and looks like Apollo).
Are there any apps for Lemmy that have a "hide read" feature? I had recently started using Sync for Reddit for that feature, because I like to be able to refresh and see all new posts instead of weeding through stuff I've already seen. Any tips would be appreciated!
Ngl find it all a bit confusing still, however it definitely seems like the beginnings of something special
So far I've only tried Connect for Lemmy and it works well so far. A little slow and occasionally has issues logging in, but it's getting the job done.
I'm really hoping that Sync works (when it's ready) every bit as well for Lemmy as it did for Reddit though, because no other app even came close.
I've also been trying to limit my Reddit use on desktop just out of principle.
I don’t quite yet understand all the different instances but I like it
I actually installed the reddit app (Android) but it really was shitty so I uninstalled it.
Lemmy has been great hasn't it? It's not as big but the content feels more meaningful.
Boost was my go-to and I'm waiting for the new one for Lemmy. But jerboa has been doing the job for me so far. Especially the newer versionsB
I’m still on a browser. I tried to get into the Memmy beta today, but its full. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Christian moves Apollo to Lemmy’s API. I’d gladly pay for the one time thing again.
I’m on wefwef because it’s a pretty good Apollo version of lemmy. I haven’t opened Reddit since I installed this
