Ok I agree with the sentiment but I hate the "observe this meme in which your side is portrayed as the ugly one and mine is portrayed as calm and collected". it looks like the type of stuff id see on facebook

It's like Discord if less people used it and there was still no e2ee and the signup page was broken and it was still centralized

The Qwen models that you can run with llama.cpp (Jan's main backend) are quite brilliant for their size

I use a Google Pixel and I can't use GrapheneOS since my phone is carrier locked.

Google play services is likely the biggest privacy invasion I have right now, and I can technically disable it entirely since I don't use many proprietary Google apps; I mostly use FOSS and privacy respecting alternatives.

What do I do to improve my privacy? I have location services off constantly but am sure that Google play services just bypasses it.

windows genuinely infuriates me, not only for the typical reasons like Microsoft bloat and adware. I hate how it handles a lot of systems, and much prefer the organization and relative modularity of Linux. development and software management is also a pain on windows, and it's difficult to sandbox apps.

lets be honest, we all think we're in the blue, when we're probably in the mid low yellow

That's what I'm using, and it's pretty nice. Thanks for your input!

I'm curious about what the consensus is here for which models are used for general purpose stuff (coding assist, general experimentation, etc)

What do you consider the "best" model under ~30B parameters?
