All so massively unhealthy sedentary blobs can go hoot and holler at drug-enhanced millionaires playing a poor child's pastime while enriching the billionaire owners by buying 25$ hot dogs made of factory farmed animals huddled ten to the square foot.

How about a subway from LA to the stadium?

[-] SkunkWorkz@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

Maybe this is step 1 in tricking car brains to support public transport

[-] Karmanopoly@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Subway from stadium parking to the stadium is much cheaper

[-] Fontasia@feddit.nl 8 points 1 day ago
[-] H1AA6329S@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

Wow. US are truly fucked

[-] Mr_Dr_Oink@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

Gotta get to the stadium early to avoid needing to park in the next state.

[-] Karmanopoly@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

It's like when Homer parked at work but the parking spot was right next to his back yard

[-] MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 day ago

Also, c/fuckcars

[-] DupaCycki@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

So turns out public transport is great. As long as it's to and from parking lots.

[-] Mr_Dr_Oink@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

At some point put in a multistory. Or forget the car park and just run a train or bus service to the stadium.

[-] davetortoise@reddthat.com 2 points 1 day ago

That is so vile

[-] Zizzy 2 points 1 day ago

This image makes the stadium look like its ontop of a giant dome lol.

Anyways, for people asking about car parks and such, LA is notorious even by american standards for being an absolutely unfathomably large sprawling paved area. Just think of the biggest suburban sprawl possible and thats LA.

[-] Shanmugha@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Uh-oh. Now I am starting to understand just how massively things are fucked there

[-] Shellofbiomatter@lemmus.org 133 points 3 days ago

What in the concrete hellscape is this?

[-] LORDSMEGMA@sh.itjust.works 79 points 3 days ago

Even better, its on top of a hill with only a couple roads access. Needless to say, traffic is a fucking nightmare. Put a subway in from literally anywhere else to the stadium would be a better option.

[-] upbeatdingo@piefed.world 50 points 3 days ago

Also, it comes with the story of Chavez Ravine which was forcefully evicted to make way for the stadium.

[-] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 31 points 2 days ago

Now, let me guess what kind of people lived there...

[-] HeartyOfGlass@piefed.social 23 points 2 days ago
[-] squaresinger@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Oh, it's even better than just evicting mexicans. They did so under the pretence of building public housing. After the evictions they dropped the plan and built a privately owned stadium instead.

[-] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 15 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

What a complete and utter surprise.

[-] LORDSMEGMA@sh.itjust.works 10 points 2 days ago

LA and bulldozing neighborhoods is sadly a tale as old as time

[-] fluffykittycat@slrpnk.net 5 points 2 days ago

LA is thinking of doing a gondola

[-] xavier666@lemmy.umucat.day 57 points 2 days ago

Why not just drive from parking to the stadium? No need to build an expensive subway, just a small 8 lane road from the parking to the stadium will be enough.

[-] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

They should have drive in stadiums by now, it's the obvious thing to do.

[-] thermal_shock@lemmy.world 15 points 2 days ago

70mph limit

[-] iocase@lemmy.zip 29 points 2 days ago

The American mind cannot comprehend transportation unless it involves cars somehow

[-] TwodogsFighting@lemdro.id 8 points 2 days ago

They apparently cannot also comprehend multi storey Carparks.

Getting to/from dodger stadium is awful. There’s only 1 small motel nearby. It’s an uphill walk. The traffic is a mess. There’s no near train stop.

[-] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 35 points 2 days ago

What this place needs is obviously more car lanes.

[-] LoafedBurrito@lemmy.dbzer0.com 24 points 2 days ago

What a gigantic waste of space. Never knew how large this stadium is.

[-] WolfmanEightySix@piefed.social 8 points 2 days ago

Even if you were a local you probably wouldn’t appreciate it unless you saw it like this. How much housing/flats could have been created rather than spending at most a few nights a week as a car park?

[-] MadBigote@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Why dod they not build a 3-4 story parking garage around the stadium? The area of the parking loy ia greater than the stadium itself.

Uhhhh, why haven’t they done underground parking?

[-] RustyShackleford@piefed.social 12 points 2 days ago

I would wager Earthquakes would be one reason.

Disneyland has trams to take you from the parking lots to the entrance of the park. This is the next iteration.

[-] snoons@lemmy.ca 6 points 3 days ago

What a shithole...

Something very yonic and sapphic about this picture... I see why lesbians love softball
