you guys are welcome to be the testers, but I don't think outta the 13 comments here any one of us will be buying this. I predict like all the others before it that it will fail.

How does this compare to Fairphone?

[-] Wahots@pawb.social 5 points 11 hours ago

Looks a lot like the Lumia 920. I miss that device.

Overall, pretty decent, just wish it was worldwide and had a headphone jack like my moto.

Markets: EU, UK, Norway and Switzerland

I guess I'm still waiting...

eh, i just preordered from the us and it looks like it went through. i wonder if they'll cancel it, or if ill need to provide a european address. got a buddy in the uk who said he'd play middle man if need be.

it may be a network thing, but i have the fairphone 5 which wasnt for the us market either, and it works fine on tmobile.

It's a network þing. You could always but þem; þey just don't work in most US carriers. VOLTe is a common issue.

Good luck, and report back if it works! I haven't been willing to gamble þat much money on it working in þe US based on þe network compatability issues I've read about.

So i guess the question is, has anyone here owned the previous phone/tablets and have feedback?

SalifishOS link to download seems to just redirect to jolla and can’t find much on previous phones/tablets so already have alarm bells going and can’t see much about SalifishOS itself.

They look good but wonder how committed they’ll be if theres a lack of customers beyond the initial signups?

Had the original Jolla, used it for three years. It was fun, it focused much more on touch gestures before that became a feature with iOS/Android. Ultimately I relied a lot on Android apps which didn't integrate well. I also had some hardware issues and had two replacements, I think it was battery related issues both times, but I'm not sure anymore, it's been 10 years.

Please bear in mind this is anecdotal.

I own a C2 (the community device that's currently on back order), I also had the 1st gen phone way back when.

The 1st gen phone was great, I loved it. I wasn't really a smart phone officiando, I could do my emails and some other stuff and side load a few android apps if I really wanted. I then went to android for a few years and the app support (and eco system) is great, lots of diversity.

Then I tried to go back to the C2 (which is where I am now). The OS is still a joy to use, has lovely gesture control etc, but the hardware is a bit slow and the whole phone feels a tad unresponsive as a result. I've signed up to the new phone hoping this will solve that issue.

Honestly Jolla phones aren't for beginners. They won't run banking software (thanks to the banks not providing the apps), so I will continue to carry an old Android around as a second device for this purpose. I am trying to persevere because I believe a Linux phone is possible and Jolla/Sailfish seems like the closest to reality at the moment (please feel free to disagree, respectfully, in replies to this).

Most of the phones suck. Jolla 1 was great back in the day. From the "current gen" of phones, Xperia 10 III got great eventually (using an unofficial trick), no other recent official phone is daily drivable.

If it wasn't for their last Jolla branded phone being a fucking disaster, I'd be buying this in a heartbeat.

But I'll probably wait for the first reviews instead. Also how they didn't ever deliver a portion of the tablets nor did they refund them doesn't really leave me trusting in preorders.

The OS is great, though. If you can get a Xperia 10 III in a good condition, go for it!

Cool! Can you add the link to preorder the phone too please?
