The “good” news is that the Senate is acting alone and the House would still need to pass it. Senate Democrats did just betray the country, and every one who did needs to pay the piper for this crime because you do not negotiate with terrorists. Let’s hope the House Democrats have more scruples than the Senators that willingly handed us over to holocaust architects.
im not really surprised, schumer, fetterman and the dinos were never on our sides. they just want the appearance so they can recieve the same benefits from the gop donors.
If there was any hope for a reformed party, they would expel each of those traitors from the party tomorrow. Join with fascists, get treated like fascists.
also because they are controlled by AIPAC in general too. AIpac/or a jewish donor funded kirks TPusa . the old guard DNC, are mostly GOP-lite, they were never truley DEMs to begin with, its just that the gop moved too far right for them to be voted as a republican(pre-reagan republicans).
I have no love for Schumer, but he did vote against this bill. Fetterman can go kick rocks though
he voted no while being the architect of the betrayal. IMO, that makes him even more of a piece of shit, because he did so in a way to make himself not look awful.
What a dick, then. He needs to go, we need someone who is actually going to lead the opposition
Even in the very off chance he wasn't the architect, he is such an incompetent leader that the dems broke ranks including his party whip Durbin without him knowing. Absolutely awful politician and a disgrace
The house isn't fillibuster proof. Even if every Democrat voted together the Republicans don't need their vote.
since it's stopgap, I don't think it had the LGBT+ riders that were in the original bill ...
for now the biggest impact to the trans population is from the government funding going through, it means that federal workers will get paid (in some cases will receive backpay), federal workers will be able to return to work (and in some cases get their jobs back if they were wrongfully terminated during the shutdown), and SNAP benefits and other aid programs will now be funded (and hopefully won't be obstructed any more by Trump).
the downside is that the Democrats caved on every single thing; this was their only leverage to get the ACA subsidies passed, which makes it very unlikely those subsidies will pass, basically making healthcare unaffordable for many (premiums will more than double, which is estimated to cause 4 million people to become uninsured, that number reaching 17 million by 2034).
previously they had already folded on their other demands, such as repealing cuts to Medicaid Trump had previously legislated (which take effect in 2026)
If they are so willing to fold on their top priorities when they have leverage, it's a sign of what we might expect in the future.
EDIT: update, Erin in the Morning confirms no anti-trans riders in the senate funding bill that passed
One community watching especially closely was transgender Americans, who have been directly targeted by multiple FY26 appropriations bills on the House side. EITM can confirm that the compromise continuing resolution and the accompanying minibus packages contain no anti-transgender provisions.
I don’t think it’s clear yet. At least, I haven’t seen any reporting on that part of it yet, and I think there are still a few more steps to go before everything is finalized
