"South Park" is back to once again mock President Donald Trump — and this time, Vice President JD Vance, too.

The Comedy Central show took aim at the president, as well as Vance and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, in its latest episode, "Got A Nut," which aired on Aug. 6.

The episode revolves around school counselor Mr. Mackey being fired from his job and, because he's desperate for money, joining Immigration and Customs Enforcement. A parody ad for the federal agency mocks its recruitment process, with a jingle declaring, "We don't ask for experience, just show up!"

To be honest the funniest part of that whole episode was Vance. I lost my shit at the end when he came up.

The fact they did a fantasy island gag was perfect. Not many got the joke.

[-] chocrates@piefed.world 17 points 4 months ago

I didn't get it. Was it just that he was short?

[-] joekar1990@lemmy.world 69 points 4 months ago

It's an old drama series from the late 70s. Essentially it's an exclusive private island. Guests were granted so-called "fantasies" on the island for a price. JD Vance portrayed as Tattoo. Tattoo would run up the main bell tower to ring the bell and shout De plane! De plane! to announce the arrival of a new set of guests at the beginning of each episode. In later seasons, he arrives in his personal go-kart, sized for him, and recklessly drives to join the host for the visitor reception while the staff scramble out of his way.

So the parallels between Epstein island and other things lined up so well overall.

Also ran well into the 80’s with new episodes.

They also rebooted it twice. Once in the 90’s and once recently. I don’t know if Tattoo made a comeback, so only people 35 and up might get that reference.

Noem's face crawling across the floor was horrifyingly fantastic. And the dogs...

[-] Funky_Beak@lemmy.sdf.org 34 points 4 months ago

The dogs were intense. Like the detail of each shot. They really wanted to hammer home thay this person is a monster. And i thank them for it.

[-] IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world 6 points 4 months ago

less horrifying than her actual face

While I find this season hasn't been terribly well written or even all that funny, I really enjoy watching these episodes. In this time of instability and chaos, it feels somewhat cathartic to see them just go balls-to-the-wall with their insults on these absolute bastards. On a meta level, they seem to be dropping nuance to get reactions from their targets and even hoping to get sued, perhaps looking to shed light on some hypocrisy in their targets. Or maybe they are just Trey and Matt, frustrated at the current political situation and not inclined to give a fuck anymore. Cartman's confusion is probably just them acknowledging their difficulty parodying people whose entire life is a farce.

The end credits were a fucking riot, though.

Illegitimi non carborundum.

How timely with ice just removing its age restrictions. Good stuff.

[-] D_C@sh.itjust.works 26 points 4 months ago

Talking of age restrictions...

“Do you think you could now be banging 24-year-olds,” Stern asked in the 2006 interview.

“Oh, absolutely,” Trump responded “I have no trouble.”

“Would you do it” Stern clarified.

“I have no problem,” the future president said.

Stern’s co-host Robin Quivers then asked, “do you have an age limit or would you…”

“If I- No, no, I have no age–. I mean, I have an age li…” Trump replied.

Then, when asked to provide his “upper bracket,” Trump said, “I don’t want to be like Congressman Foley, with, you know, 12-year-olds.”

https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-told-howard-stern-2006-223928455.html (there are more sources for this)

So 13 is the obese imbeciles age limit ... when talking on a national(?) radio show!!

  1. Thirteen. Hmmmm. Why does 13 and tRUMP seem so icky and familiar. Oh, yes, now I remember...

(If anyone doesn't want to read this then basically he and Epstein tied up, beat, and raped a 13 years old and then made threats to keep them all quiet)
[-] Glitterbomb@lemmy.world 11 points 4 months ago

For a second i thought this was going to be the interview where trump admits his 17 year old daughter made him promise to stop dating girls younger than her.

Dude publicly told on himself a lot.

[-] aeternum 8 points 4 months ago

trump really is a POS. Fuck trump.

It's also the breed my family has had historically. She killed the dog because it was too energetic. She killed the dog because of what it was.

I wonder if they didn't purposefully work to encourage this inevitable clusterfuck for content when they downplayed how fucked-up Trump is in Season 20.

[-] vivalapivo@lemmy.today 16 points 4 months ago

Partially yes. I guess they are owning their mistakes now by airing these episodes

Am I the only one just tired of South Park? Cool, they shit on Trump. Like, I don't know what having him have sex with Satan does.

The dude is funding and facilitating death camps by diverting funds from disaster relief programs.

Our country is two years into directly funding and defending a genocidal state.

I can't bring myself to care enough to watch what fart and sex jokes the "enlightened centrist" at South Park have to make about it.

I'm just a bitter humourousless old man now I guess.

Edit: good comment in hindsight. I do like hearing the responses. If you still want to respond please understand I am a depressed far left dude that just had a family reunion of liberals talk more about South Park and zero about Palestine. Just some context to my frustration.

[-] Soulg@ani.social 16 points 4 months ago

Don't watch it then.

[-] vivalapivo@lemmy.today 12 points 4 months ago

Hey, totally get it. On the other hand, can't you see that literally everyone else got their nose brown? It's climatic to see that at least some authors have an audacity to do such show. Not for long though.

[-] brucethemoose@lemmy.world 12 points 4 months ago

Yeah. I am ecstatic South Park exists and is popular, even if I don’t watch it much.

…For now.

Somehow getting banned by the US government would be a crowning achievement.

[-] qwank@lemmy.world 11 points 4 months ago

See the great part of it, it bruises their tiny little egos

[-] wheezy@lemmy.ml 7 points 4 months ago

I think it does significantly more for the egos of the people that enjoy "pointing at the problem" but doing nothing about it.

I love how JD Vance came to the bedroom with Trump and Satan and said 'would you like me to apply baby oil to zee asshole?' in a stupid French accent. It was hilarious! Yes I know the whole part was a reference to Fantasy Island, it was hilarious

It had its moments, but it wasn't as good as the previous episode, for sure. Acting like all right wing "master debaters" and ICE agents are just doing it for money rather than actually believing the rhetoric was a shit take, too.

I was hoping they were going to have a deepfake Trump PSA every episode after it said "1 of 50." Guess not.

I'm frightened for them. Trump will do something to them and it'll be brutal

[-] AlexLost@lemmy.world 16 points 4 months ago

He is both powerful, yet impotent. He's got nothing to get them with, and by "getting them" he would be self owning himself because they are daring him to do it with every animated frame.

[-] bigfondue@lemmy.world 15 points 4 months ago

They are both worth about a billion dollars. I think they'll be fine. Consequences are for the poors

This is all such a circus. But we are not getting the bread, well a very small portion of us are getting it all, and a few places are holding the vast majority of the rest of the wealth among their peons.
