Oh really? So anyone can submit a birth cert with completely false information and it becomes legal? People should start registering their babies to the royal family and cash in on some of that sweet royal treasure.

Any system that involves (human or machine) data entry and doesn't allow corrections is fundamentally broken to the point of unusability.

For the sake of auditability, there should be a remark stating the data was originally entered differently. Displaying the original data with a remark that it has been changed and is no longer valid is extremely stupid.
