It's actually quite sad, as it's a sickness, not "playing".
Cats will do this for all sort of reasons. Some are bad, like neurological damage, but they sometimes will also do it if stressed or really bored. Chill.
A stressed out really bored cat is also sad though, not really cute imho.
That surely depends on the level of auto-aggression. Boredom and stress might be it, but should also not happen. In my view at least. Surely depends on the "owner". I don't know what boredom feels like, surely wouldn't want my cat (if i had one) to experience it. And stress even less. I am chilled. This was a comment, not an emotional outburst :-)
I'm just saying the likelihood of benign reasons for this happening is greater than the likelihood of reasons to worry. It's a mild symptom that doesn't mean much without the presence of other symptoms to indicate a greater problem. All I meant by "chill" was "don't worry about the cat" since this alone isn't a reason to worry.
Oh, I didn't worry. I just noted it. As videos like these are circulating for decades with a "funny"-tag. Which most often is just not it. the video isn't 100% clear, but i'd oppose you here. The malign reasons are more likely than the the benign. Simply because people often mistreat their pets or anthropomorphize them or whatever. Who's right here doesn't even matter. I hope you are.
What sickness?
Might be nothing much (overexcited "playing", etc) might also be a lot else:
Surely hard to diagnose with a 2seconds-gif. If that occurs once a week and seems harmless (no wounds, blood, hairloss) it probably is.

Your first message literally states as of it were fact that the cat is sick, then you follow it with " might be nothing much" and acknowledge that's it's hard to diagnose with a 2 second gif. It makes it sound like you're pulling random comments out of the air just to hear yourself talk.
Have you met a younger cat? Have you known cats when they "get zoomies"? As strange as it may look, this is pretty damn normal silly cat behavior when they get really excited. Ever see a dog playing that gets so excited it startles itself with its own tail? It's the same thing.
Hard to grasp hm? It's of course hard to judge by a 2s-gif. But it's also most likely NOT just playing, based on experience and common sense. Same I assume you're American by that little you wrote here. Might be wrong, but probably is correct. If you think biting nails, or something like that is "normal for humans", then fine. It's not really hurting. But not healthy either.
so.. exactly what you did? In future, maybe try less assertion..
Why even comment on anything here at all? That's all we all had to begin with. And my judgement was based on that. Might be wrong (but probably isn't). Or might be right (most likely is, hence I said it). But if you want it to be "normal cat-play", what do I care? Believe it!
