Game development has changed fundamentally. They aren't these teams of 20 people anymore, they are massive companies with massive budgets and thousands of employees.

You simply cannot be profitable with this model anymore unless they have total market domination - or sell cross platform, which they do not and are steadily losing market share.

PlayStation is in a death spiral.

At this point I wonder if modular consoles are the way to go. Make it an upgradable home entertainment system.

An upgradable steam cube type console that can also be an android TV seems ideal to me.

Interesting concept, we could call them "personal computers" that would be a fitting name
