I'm seeing lots of media headlines in reaction to the win vs Brentford that frame it like we ground out a hard win and we weren't playing very well. But having watched the extended highlights we looked damned good!
Noni and Ben were tormenting their right wing and had sone excellent interplay. Odegaard was on good form. Our defense was barely troubled. And we dictated the game via Zubimendi, Rice, and Odegaard. I'm going to watch the full replay later. But I expect the extended highlights gave a good account of things.
Only downsides were that we couldn't put more opportunities away, and Mosquera picked up an injury. But overall, hey I'm happy!
I watched the whole thing live and it was much edgier than I wanted it to be, as it stuck at 1-0 for a long time and we eschewed several very good opportunities to extend the lead and make it more comfortable.
Although the stats show a lack of threat and xG from Brentford, they did have periods of possession where Arsenal were a bit quiet and it sounded like the crowd got a bit subdued, also.
Brentford also had a number of corners and long throws that could have turned into something but thankfully didn't. You prob won't see those in highlights but they are the type of thing where one of them could have lead to us cursing our luck.
I'd be hopeful for the Rice injury, as it didn't look too bad at all. Mosquera looked more unhappy when he left the pitch.
reading on fotmob that rice was also injured..... are we fucked or were they knocks
Yeah I just heard about Rice a few minutes ago. Eesh!
