I think capitalism causes a sort of money addiction. At times when I've had a low amount of money in the bank, it has caused me to feel very stressed out. So it has created a need to have a certain amount of money in order to feel safe. It creates a psychological connection between money and safety, leading to a need to obtain money.
Somehow, the rich seem to have the same addiction, even if they've never had the stress of having low money. They still seem to somehow develop the psychological need to obtain as much money as they can.
